CAD Reconstruction

For reconstructing a defined CAD model from scan reference for an agreed review or documentation purpose.

Model for the next step

Choose the CAD model around what happens next.

A visually similar model is not always the right engineering model. Features, surfaces, symmetry, design intent, and validation should match the downstream editing, quoting, documentation, or manufacturing review need.

01

Best fit

Parts that need editable CAD, neutral STEP or IGES exchange, controlled features, surface reconstruction, or a documented design reference.

02

Send first

The scan or physical part, critical features, intended model use, preferred file format, known dimensions, and any reference drawings.

03

Typical output

Feature-based, surface-based, or hybrid CAD with the reconstruction method, validation boundary, and supporting views defined in the quote.

Buyer questions

Questions to settle before the job starts.

Clear answers reduce quoting time and help keep the final files aligned with the real project need.

What is the difference between a scan mesh and reconstructed CAD?

A mesh represents the measured surface with triangles. Reconstructed CAD uses controlled surfaces and features intended for editing, documentation, quoting, or downstream engineering. They are related but not interchangeable deliverables.

Can scan data be converted directly to STEP or IGES?

A simple file conversion usually does not create useful engineering CAD. Kymerion uses the scan as measured reference and rebuilds the agreed geometry according to the model class and intended use.

Which features can be preserved in scan-to-CAD work?

Datums, holes, bosses, ribs, mounting patterns, profiles, freeform surfaces, and other relevant features can be addressed when they are visible in the data and included in the scope. Critical interfaces should be identified before modeling.

Can technical drawings be created from the reconstructed model?

Yes, when drawings are separately scoped. Required views, dimensions, notes, title-block information, and whether the document is for reference or a controlled engineering process must be agreed first.

How is scan-to-CAD pricing determined?

Pricing is driven by geometric complexity, model type, feature count, surface work, required validation, deliverables, and deadline. A clean prismatic bracket is a different scope from a freeform housing or assembly.
