Yes. Clear photos from several angles and approximate dimensions are useful for initial feasibility and quote review. Include whether the part can be moved, any critical interfaces, known wear or damage, location, deadline, and the output you expect to use after the work is complete.
No. Scanning produces measured point-cloud or mesh data. Reconstructing agreed features and surfaces into a defined STEP or IGES CAD model is separate reverse-engineering or scan-to-CAD work, with model requirements and treatment of wear or design intent agreed in advance.
Depending on scope, a project can include measured STL, OBJ, PLY, or point data; STEP or IGES CAD; selected PDF drawings; aligned comparison images; reference screenshots; and a named handoff package. The recipient’s software and next decision determine the useful combination.
