A useful quote does not begin with an assumed software workflow. It begins with the physical part, what is known about it, who will use the files next, and the decision the deliverable needs to support.

Measured geometry

For archive, reference, visualization, or downstream mesh workflows, capture can be scoped around the part’s size, finish, access, coverage, and a defined STL, OBJ, PLY, or point-data handoff.

Editable geometry

For design updates, selected feature work, vendor review, or neutral CAD exchange, the measured part can serve as reference for separately scoped STEP or IGES reconstruction. Measured wear is not automatically treated as nominal design intent.

Evidence and handoff

For fit review, communication, or a next technical decision, the scope can combine aligned comparison images, selected drawing views, named files, and concise notes around an agreed CAD or other reference.

Do I need to know whether I need scanning, CAD, or comparison before contacting Kymerion?

No. Start with the physical part and what needs to happen next. Photos, approximate size, material and finish, location, deadline, available reference files, and the final decision or recipient make it possible to recommend an appropriate measured-data, CAD, comparison, drawing, or handoff scope.

Can a project begin with photos and rough dimensions?

Yes. Clear photos from several angles and approximate dimensions are useful for initial feasibility and quote review. Include whether the part can be moved, any critical interfaces, known wear or damage, location, deadline, and the output you expect to use after the work is complete.

Does 3D scanning automatically include editable CAD?

No. Scanning produces measured point-cloud or mesh data. Reconstructing agreed features and surfaces into a defined STEP or IGES CAD model is separate reverse-engineering or scan-to-CAD work, with model requirements and treatment of wear or design intent agreed in advance.

What files can a physical-part project include?

Depending on scope, a project can include measured STL, OBJ, PLY, or point data; STEP or IGES CAD; selected PDF drawings; aligned comparison images; reference screenshots; and a named handoff package. The recipient’s software and next decision determine the useful combination.

Can Kymerion review a local Los Angeles or on-site project?

Kymerion reviews Los Angeles and Southern California projects, including on-site work when a part is large, installed, delicate, difficult to ship, or needs surrounding interface context. Travel, access, working clearance, timing, safety, surface condition, and required output are confirmed during scope review.
