Often, yes. The available part is captured as measured geometry, then the agreed features and surfaces are reconstructed into a defined CAD model. Feasibility depends on condition, access, missing regions, critical interfaces, model requirements, and the intended next step.
Can a worn or damaged part be turned into nominal replacement geometry?+
Measured wear or damage is not automatically treated as design intent. Symmetry, repairs, nominalization, missing features, known dimensions, mating components, and any requested changes must be identified and agreed before CAD reconstruction.
Do I receive a manufacturing-ready replacement part?+
Kymerion supplies the measured data and CAD or documentation outputs included in the quote. Material choice, engineering approval, process planning, tolerances, testing, certification, and production acceptance remain separate responsibilities unless qualified parties are explicitly included in the project.
What files can be supplied for a replacement-part project?+
A project may include STL, OBJ, or PLY measured geometry; STEP or IGES reconstructed CAD; selected drawings; comparison images; and handoff notes. The required model class and file formats are confirmed before work begins.
What should I send for a replacement-part reverse-engineering quote?+
Send photos from several angles, approximate dimensions, material and finish, damage or wear notes, mating-part or assembly context, critical interfaces, known dimensions, desired changes, final file format, deadline, and whether the part can be shipped or needs on-site capture.
